Software Development Engineer - Systems Test

Overview In this role, you will develop and maintain test software and automation for Joby’s Systems Test team, enabling efficient verification of hardware and software integration. You’ll work across design, software, systems, and certification teams to meet milestones in a fast-paced environment. Your work supports mission-profile verification, safety clearance, and aircraft certification efforts. This is a hands-on position with a meaningful impact on scaling testing for future commercial service. Compensation / Benefitspaid time offhealthcare benefits 401(k) with company matchemployee stock purchase plan (ESPP)short-term and long-term disabilitylife insurance Responsibilities Develop test software infrastructure and tooling to improve test efficiency Create instrumentation, controls hardware, test fixtures, and LabVIEW VIs for automation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements for test assets Execute integration tests of hardware, software, and test equipment for mission verification and safety milestones Maintain configuration control of test software and hardware, including calibration records Analyze test data and generate reports to drive design optimization Key requirementsB.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience 5+ years of test engineering experience Expertise in Hardware In the Loop (HIL) and simulation-based testing Fluent in LabVIEW VIs for data collection, automation, control, and real-time Fluent in Veri Stand software Proficient with Linux (e.g., Ubuntu) and Python scripting for test support Experience with Instrumentation, Data Acquisition Systems and Sensors Experience with LabVIEW workflows, Git, and software team collaboration Cross-functional collaboration Strong multi-tasking and prioritization Clear communication and teamwork LabVIEW VIs (data collection, automation, control, real-time)Veri Stand Python scripting
