Machine Learning Engineer - LLMs

Overview As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on the DFM team, you will own the ML lifecycle for language models that interpret manufacturing data packages. You’ll advance document classification, information extraction, and multi-page reasoning to power Hadrian’s automation stack. You’ll work with the core engineering team on annotation tooling, active learning, and synthetic data strategies, and help shape the AI platform roadmap. This role combines research, system-building, and production ownership in a high-impact manufacturing setting. Compensation / Benefits Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance 401kRelocation support may be provided Flexible vacation policy EquityITAR compliance support Responsibilities Research, develop, and deploy fine-tuned language models for document classification, information extraction, table parsing, and multi-page reasoning Collaborate with the core engineering team to build annotation tooling, implement active learning loops, and engineer synthetic data augmentation Develop evaluation frameworks beyond accuracy to quantify system behavior and user impact Partner with the ML team to set technical and product roadmaps for the AI platform Drive improvements where small gains yield large time-savings at scale Key requirements 5-8 years of professional AI/ML experience≥2 years working directly with large language models (fine-tuning, RLHF/DPO, or pre-training)Strong Python and PyTorch fluency with custom training loops, loss functions, and data loaders Production deployment ownership with experience shipping models to production and maintaining endpointsMS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred; equivalent experience valued)collaboration with cross-functional teamsownership mindset and proactive problem solvingclear communication and ability to articulate ML impact Python PyTorchfine-tuning, RLHF/DPO, or pre-training for LLMs
