Lead Developer - Python , Gen AI

Overview In this role you will lead the design and implementation of Python-based services that embed Generative AI into Vistra's data platforms. You will work within the Enterprise Data & Analytics team to accelerate data product delivery and improve ML platforms, collaborating with partners outside Technology. As a hands-on contributor, you own end-to-end development, testing, and documentation while championing AI ethics and governance. You will mentor junior developers and oversee offshore resources, staying ahead of AI trends to deliver business value. Responsibilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement AI solutions Embed Generative AI into workflows for enterprise data products and ML platforms Design, develop, and maintain Python applications and services with strong testing and documentation practices Mentor junior developers and offshore delivery resources Partner with security, risk, and compliance teams to meet governance and privacy standards Evaluate emerging data and AI technologies for practical value and viability Key requirements 6–9 years of professional software development experience with strong emphasis on Python Experience applying Generative AI capabilities (prompt design, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, embeddings, vector stores, agentic AI)Data-centric engineering experience building services/tools in a data engineering organization Proven experience building and scaling software solutions in cloud environments (AWS preferred)Dev Ops background including Infrastructure as Code, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines Ability to stay current with AI trends and pragmatically apply them Collaborative mindset across diverse teams Mentorship and technical leadership Independent execution and accountability Python Generative AIprompt design
