Machine Learning Engineer, Local Search & Marketplace

Overview In this role you will design and deploy ML systems to connect people with relevant local content, businesses, and services. You’ll work across search, recommendations, ranking, retrieval, and personalization, taking solutions from experimentation to production. You’ll partner with product and engineering to translate business needs into scalable ML products and run online/offline experiments to measure impact. This is a growth-focused, hands-on opportunity to shape how users discover local information at scale. Compensation / Benefitsdiscretionary bonusequitybase pay range $190,000–$300,000career growth opportunitiesdynamic, innovative culture Responsibilities Build and improve ML models for search, recommendation, ranking, retrieval, matching, and personalization Develop systems to understand user queries, behaviors, and context Apply embeddings, NLP, large language models, and modern retrieval techniques for local content matching Build and optimize end-to-end ML pipelines from data prep to online serving and monitoring Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to translate business needs into scalable ML solutions Design and analyze online and offline experiments to measure model quality and product impact Improve product outcomes like relevance, engagement, conversion, retention, and marketplace efficiency Explore new ML/LLM techniques and push them into production with measurable value Key requirements Experience building ML, data mining, search, recommendation, ranking, NLP, or related systems Strong programming skills in Python, Java, C++, or other relevant language Solid understanding of ML fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and statistics Experience with search, retrieval, learning-to-rank, recommendation, or NLPAbility to work with large-scale datasets and translate ambiguous problems into practical solutions Strong collaboration and communication skills Interest in building production systems serving real users and delivering product impactcollaborationcommunicationproblem-solving Python JavaC++
