Overview
In this hybrid role based in Washington DC or Boston, you will lead and refine core L&D curricula aligned with the firm’s strategy, supervising cross-office teams to deliver consistent, high-quality training. You’ll partner with People Development and other departments to integrate programs and measure impact through data-driven evaluation. You will drive specialized curricula (including litigation) and support mentorship, business development training, and performance improvement. Responsibilities Manage L&D Core programs and cross-office teams, aligning with the firm’s strategy and highlighting key learning points for professional growth Collaborate with People Development, People Strategy, Centers of Excellence and other departments to ensure consistency across initiatives Maintain, enhance, and evaluate the core curriculum for associates and counsel, balancing programs, experiences, and self-study Oversee the Business Development Academy with Core L&D and BD teams; support training for associates, counsel, and Business Services Lead and enhance the litigation curricula across levels and regions, conducting needs assessments and evaluations Serve as liaison to the Litigation Partner Training Committee to align programs with strategic vision Collaborate with the Mentorship Manager on program design and promote mentorship best practices Communicate program value and Firm expectations to associates and counsel; identify and engage instructors Monitor program effectiveness with data analytics; collect feedback and share with the design team for improvement Conduct follow-ups, adjust programs as needed, and report insights to leadership Participate in interviewing, selection and training processes; monitor time, attendance, and expenses Utilize performance management processes to set expectations, coach, and address performance issues Oversee staff performance and guide issue resolution; promote efficiency, client service, and strong employee relations Promote alignment with Firm Core Values through guidelines and practices; maintain strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication
Key requirements Extensive experience in learning and development, including curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation Strategic thinker with a track record of aligning learning initiatives to organizational goals Understanding of professional development needs for associates at various levels; ability to refine curriculums with diverse learning methods Data-driven decision making and continuous improvement experience in evaluating learning programs Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple initiatives and shifting priorities Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to engage and inspire teams Experience managing cross-office teams and fostering cross-functional collaboration Strong facilitation and team leadership skills; experience supervising others Proficiency with technology for virtual learning and standard firm software (Outlook, Excel, Power Point) with ability to learn new tools Experience tracking feedback, analyzing data, and delivering actionable enhancements Knowledge of industry best practices and trends; willingness to travel as neededexcellent communication and interpersonal skillsstrong facilitation and leadershipcollaboration across functions and across offices Outlook Excel Power Point
