DevOps Engineer

Overview As a Dev Ops Engineer you will design, operate, and improve the infrastructure powering production systems, emphasizing reliability, automation, and developer productivity. You’ll work with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment to build scalable, secure, and observable platforms. The role offers hands-on responsibility for Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security practices, with a strong focus on reducing operational overhead. This is a hands-on position at a growth-stage tech company in New York City that values pragmatic problem-solving and collaboration. Responsibilities Build, operate, and optimize production infrastructure across cloud platforms, Kubernetes, networking, databases, CI/CD, and observability systems Improve deployment workflows, release automation, rollback strategies, and overall developer productivity Maintain and evolve Kubernetes environments (cluster operations, workloads, ingress, autoscaling, resource management)Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (or similar tools) for cloud resources, networking, and platform services Enhance production reliability through monitoring, alerting, SLOs, incident response, and operational playbooks Partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot production issues across infrastructure, networking, and application layers Automate manual operational processes and streamline infrastructure workflows Define scalable patterns for service ownership, configuration, secrets management, and environment management Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, build systems, container workflows, and release tooling Support security initiatives, including access control, cloud boundaries, secrets management, and secure deployment practices Analyze infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost to identify and implement optimizations Contribute to architectural decisions impacting infrastructure, reliability, and developer experience Participate in on-call rotations and support incident response when needed Key requirements 5+ years of experience in Dev Ops, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or a related role Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)Hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production environments Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform Solid understanding of Linux systems, containers, networking, DNS, load balancing, and TLSExperience building or improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation Familiarity with observability tooling metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking, and application layers Experience supporting production systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and simplicity Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast paced engineering environment Comfortable balancing speed, reliability, security, and maintainabilitycollaboration in a fast-paced environmentpragmatic problem-solvingstrong communication and teamworkAWS (preferred), Kubernetes in production Terraform or similar IaC tools Linux systems, containers, networking, DNS, load balancing, TLS
