Staff Software Engineer

Overview In this Staff Engineer role, you will lead modernization efforts for mission-critical operational apps used across the US, shifting legacy systems to cloud-native. NET solutions. You’ll drive scalable, modular services and API designs that support high-volume workflows in auctions, logistics, titles, payments, and yard operations. Collaborating with Product, Architecture, and cross-functional teams, you’ll elevate reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability while shaping engineering standards and observability. This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on impact, scale, and secure-by-default patterns. NET Framework to. NET Core / latest LTSArchitect scalable services and APIs for high-volume operational workflows Decompose monoliths into domain-driven, well-defined services Define data-access patterns using ORMs and repositories with controlled migrations Enhance performance, resilience, and fault tolerance (timeouts, retries, idempotency, graceful degradation)Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, and maintainability Embed observability via structured logging, metrics, and Open Telemetry Implement secure-by-default patterns (authentication, authorization, secrets management, secure coding)Lead technical discovery and solution design for cross-team initiatives Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through reviews and hands-on guidance Support and coordinate level 3 incidents, including after-hours as needed Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Operations to meet operational and compliance requirements Key requirements 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with extensive modernization of large-scale applications Staff or Principal Engineer level experience influencing architecture and technical direction Strong expertise in C#,.NET,.NET Core, and modern development practices Proven track record designing RESTful APIs and service-oriented / domain-driven architectures Hands-on experience modernizing legacy systems and databases in production Solid understanding of relational databases and modern data-access strategies Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and cloud-native patterns Excellent communication skills for explaining tradeoffs to technical and business stakeholders Proven ability to lead through influence, mentor engineers, and elevate engineering qualitystrong communicationmentoring and coachinginfluence across teamsC#.NET.NET Core
