Database Designer/Developer/Sr(36701)

Overview In this onsite contract, you will drive the design and migration of a legacy Informix-based system to a modern SQL Server 2014 platform. You will work within a project focused on re-engineering a critical financials-driven application to improve stability, performance, and scalability. You’ll translate requirements into robust database models, oversee data conversion and scrubbing, and support application development for a high-impact financial domain. This role offers hands-on design, migration, and mentoring opportunities in a cross-functional team. Responsibilities Design the new target database and translate requirements into database entities Develop and maintain logical/physical ER diagrams and models Create a performant, normalized database suitable for usability and scale Design, implement, and document data conversion from Informix to SQL Server 2014 Map legacy data elements to the new schema and perform data scrubbing as needed Assist QA with test plans to validate data migration Assist in application development to ensure robust, high-performing database Maintain documentation of database architecture and development standards Mentor COSC team members and enable knowledge transfer Key requirements Database design experienceER diagraming tools experience Data conversion and data mapping for large enterprise databasesETL tools/methodologies Informix Dynamic Server Version 7 Microsoft SQL Server 2014T-SQL, SSIS or other ETL activities Stored Procedure developmentcommunicationteam collaborationproblem solvingORM with Entity FrameworkWCF RIA services with custom domain services Visual Studio 2013
