Senior Software Engineer - Unified Video Sustainment

Overview In this role, you’ll sustain and modernize Cubic’s Unified Video platform, including FMV-related apps like the Feed Management Portal and Net Ops. You’ll build backend services, improve reliability and security, and modernize infrastructure with containers and Kubernetes in a mission-critical defense environment. The position blends development, automation, and Dev Sec Ops across a Linux-based stack. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid Ashburn, VA setting, with limited travel. Responsibilities Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software for the UV platform and related apps (FMP, Net Ops)Build backend services and automation using Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, and Linux tech Migrate infrastructure from Docker to Kubernetes Develop and maintain Ansible automation, Git Lab CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tooling Implement security updates and ensure compliance with customer security requirements and STIG guidance Investigate defects and performance issues; provide production support Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Dev Sec Ops, QA, PM) throughout the lifecycle Participate in architecture discussions and propose improvements for scalability and reliability Review code, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices Contribute to technical docs, design artifacts, and release planning Key requirements Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years of professional software development Experience with Node.js and/or Python Experience with PostgreSQL, Linux, Git, and modern source control workflows Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to work independently Node.js Python PostgreSQL
