Senior Data Science Developer

Overview In this role you will drive data science solutions for TSA’s Performance Engineering Analytics program, spanning cloud and on‑prem environments. You’ll build data products and analytics tools that address large datasets and PII considerations, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful insights. You’ll optimize performance, document technical work, and help shape secure, scalable data science capabilities aligned with mission needs. Compensation / Benefits Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance 401(k) with immediate vesting Paid Time Off & Holidays Earned Bonuses & Awards Professional Training Reimbursement Paid Parking Responsibilities Develop software, tools, models and data products in AWS and on‑prem data science environments using Python, R, Java and SQLDesign solutions for complex, large dataset problems using modern techniques Integrate data science applications with TSA systems and platforms Address data limitations (e.g., PII purging) while enabling analyses and modeling Test, maintain and optimize software for fit‑for‑purpose functionality Identify opportunities to improve system capabilities and performance Produce comprehensive documentation for specs, test plans and deliverables Make technically sound decisions to meet business and stakeholder needs Compile timely, accurate reports and documentation as requested Key requirements 10+ years of relevant experience Senior level developer experience in similar environments/tools Experience with on‑premises/cloud data science environments Python and R in data science notebook environmentsAWS Cloud products (Glue, Redshift)Microsoft Power BI Report Server or similar BI tool Data manipulation/statistics focus Experience with data visualizations, reporting systems and dashboards Performance troubleshooting of Python and R code in notebook environments Advanced SQL for large datasets; query optimization and debugging stored procedures Ability to learn new languages/technologies and troubleshoot effectively Excellent verbal/written communication Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Resourcefulness and attention to detail Preferred: TSA/DHS experience, Agile team experience, AI/ML exposure, Zeppelin/Jupyter notebooks, MS‑level degreestrong communicationanalytical mindsetproblem‑solving PythonRSQL (complex queries, optimization)
